Peter Brown has been a leader in the campaign for a cleaner, healthier, and more efficient Houston. As Chairman of the City's Sustainable Growth Committee, he's championed an expanded recycling program that's saving taxpayers over $1 million each year. And he worked alongside Mayor White to improve air quality and reduce pollution by curbing benzene emissions. As Mayor, he will continue the charge for cleaner air by giving Houstonians more transit options and cracking down on illegal polluters. He will reduce waste by expanding Houston's recycling program to more neighborhoods. His administration will encourage more parks and greenspaces, which make the city more attractive and livable, and help combat flooding. And he’ll work to expand the city’s commitment to clean, renewable energy by continuing to increase the share of the City’s energy consumption that comes from renewable sources. Peter understands that a more environmentally friendly Houston with less traffic and less pollution is better for families and better for businesses.
