Let’s Build A Better Houston
February 26, 2009
Today, I officially announced my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Houston in Hermann Park.
As I said in my speech, it was the perfect location for the event. I grew up in a nearby neighborhood where I learned to love Houston. I re-designed the Hermann Park Reflection Pool and helped get the lights turned back on at Mecom Fountain. And from where we were, we could see the Museum District, Medical Center, and the Downtown skyline.
I am so grateful to the more than 300 supporters who attended for their continued support and enthusiasm. I am proud to have worked with you over the years in your communities and on projects that have made a difference.
I hope we can continue to work together to win this race and make Houston the best city it can be.
November 3rd, 2009 seems like a long way away but the time will pass quickly. Let’s make sure that we use every opportunity to talk about the issues that matter to us.
Thank you for joining our campaign. Our journey begins now!
