Over 50 Peter Brown Supporters Attend the Cinco De Mayo Parade
Saturday, May 02, 2009
On Saturday morning over 30 supporters and volunteers gathered at the campaign headquarters to walk in the Cinco de Mayo parade with Peter Brown.
After a quick breakfast and tips on parade walking (throw candy underhand, not overhand) the group carpooled to the parade start. There they met the 20 other supporters who were already there.
Armed with candy and Peter Brown for Mayor literature, the group helped Houstonians celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The day technically honors Mexico’s defeat of the French but in the United States is it is a general celebration of Mexican culture and Mexican contributions to American culture.
Peter Brown has participated in the parade for years. “I strongly believe that the incredible cultural diversity we enjoy here in Houston is part of what makes this City so great,” said Council Member Peter Brown. “As Mayor, I plan to keep celebrating and promoting cultural awareness and exchanges as I have done as both a private citizen and a public official.”
