Dear Friends of our great city of Houston,
Your support for my campaign and for the principles we share for an even better Houston is
immensely appreciated. Although we came close to making the run-off (leading into the final week),
we built up over the past year, a strong, diverse coalition, focused on good government, quality of life,
neighborhood character, and expanded prosperity. Your voices were heard, and they will continue to be heard.
The public dialogue must go on. As the city grows, we must get it right.
My wife Anne and I want this coalition to continue and expand, as an effective voice for to make Houston even better.
I believe that we can find real solutions to our many challenges, from crime, flooding and traffic, to infrastructure
and clean air. As well, with better planning, we can develop our extraordinary potential as a global city of enviable prosperity,
character and diversity. Government, working with the private sector, can make a real difference in people’s lives.
The November 3rd general election was not only disappointing but surprising, unfolding with a low turn-out, impacted by national
political trends. Going forward, I will work even harder to advance important quality of life programs to help our neighborhoods
and businesses, and I look forward to working with the next Mayor.
My campaign, my mission, has always been about a shared civic vision, and a plan – a “blueprint”— to make that vision a reality,
to leave a better world for our children.
In the longer term, I believe that our campaign is a victory for all of Houston, and I hope that you will continue
to be involved. We will be in touch with you in the near future.
Again, honored by your support, I wish you and your family the very best.
Sincerely,
|
